Lark Mail administrators must allow auto-forwarding before members can configure it. After permission is enabled, a member can forward all new messages or create auto filters for selected messages.

Prerequisites

  • A Mermail mailbox address.
  • A Lark Mail member or public mailbox.
  • A primary administrator or an administrator with Email permissions.
  • Organization policy that permits sending mail to external recipients.

Administrator: allow auto-forwarding

1

Open the Lark Admin Console

2

Open forwarding permissions

Select Product SettingsMailEmail Management ToolsUser Function PermissionsAuto Forward.
3

Edit the permission

Click Edit and select On under Permissions.
4

Choose the scope

Select Entire organization or Set range. Use Set range when only specific member or public mailboxes should be allowed to forward externally.
5

Save

Save the permission change.
Limit permission scope to the mailboxes that need Mermail. This reduces the number of accounts that can create external forwarding rules.

Member: forward selected messages

1

Open auto filters

In Lark Mail, click the Auto filters icon and then Create Auto Filter.
2

Define the filter

Enter a name and add conditions for messages that are safe for Mermail AI to process.
3

Add the action

Under Then do this, select Auto-forward to and enter the Mermail mailbox address.
4

Create and verify

Click Create, then approve the verification message delivered to Mermail.
Lark allows up to five forwarding addresses through auto filters. Delete the destination from Auto filters when you want to stop selective forwarding.

Member: forward all new messages

1

Open email settings

Click your profile photo and select SettingsEmail.
2

Open Auto-forward

Under Auto-forward, click Set Up Now.
3

Add Mermail

Enter the Mermail mailbox address and click Add.
4

Verify the destination

Approve the verification message delivered to Mermail. Lark sends a notification after setup succeeds.
Lark allows up to two addresses for account-wide auto-forwarding.
For a public mailbox, switch to that mailbox before following the member steps. Administrator permission must include the public mailbox.

Test the setup

Send a new matching message. Lark does not forward existing messages, spam, messages addressed to a mailing list destination, or certain automatic replies.

Stop forwarding

  • For selected messages, delete the Mermail destination from Auto filters.
  • For all messages, return to SettingsEmailAuto-forwardSet Up Now, then turn off Enable auto-forward for the address.

Human takeover

If you reply to a forwarded thread directly in Lark Mail, Mermail treats the entire thread as human-managed and permanently stops AI processing for it.

Troubleshooting

See Lark’s current guides for administrator auto-forwarding permissions and member email auto-forwarding.
