# Sale Outreach

> Find prospects with Apify and prepare personalized outreach from a Mermail mailbox.

Find businesses that match your target audience, review their public contact
details, and introduce your product from a Mermail mailbox.

This guide follows the workflow shown in
[Apify Sales Outreach Usecase @ Mermail](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsQPHgKApHw):
the user selects a mailbox, asks for Shopify prospects in Australia, completes
an Apify prepaid-access signing step, and checks outreach in Mermail. The demo
includes the **Sent** view and the assistant's summary of three outreach emails.

The prompts below adapt that workflow into separate research, review, and send
steps so you can check the results before contacting prospects.

## Before you begin

* [Create a Mermail mailbox](/guides/create-mailbox) and confirm which workspace
  and sender address you want to use.
* [Connect your assistant to Mermail MCP](/ai/mcp) using the full OAuth profile
  for wallet-enabled work. An API-key connection or agent-inbox profile does
  not unlock Agent Wallet.
* [Connect Agent Wallet](/agent-wallet/get-started) and make sure the delegated
  wallet has sufficient funds if Apify access needs a purchase. The workspace
  owner must complete the initial PayBox connection.
* Prepare your product description, target audience, and spending limit.

<Note>
  The demo uses a paid Apify research workflow. Available tools, prices, and
  signing requirements can differ. Ask the assistant to check current service
  access and the current quote rather than assuming the demo's amount applies.
</Note>

## Run the workflow

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose your sender mailbox">
    Ask your connected assistant to check Mermail and list your mailboxes:

    ```text theme={null}
    Check my Mermail MCP connection and list the mailboxes I can use.
    Do not send any email or purchase anything yet.
    ```

    Select the exact mailbox and workspace from the result. Use that sender
    consistently for research context, saved emails, and any later send.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Define your prospect search">
    The video asks for three Shopify prospects in Australia. Make the selection
    criteria explicit instead of relying on an undefined ranking such as “top.”

    ```text theme={null}
    Use the mailbox I selected for this outreach workflow.
    Find up to 3 Shopify businesses in Australia using Apify.
    Prioritize businesses with a public business contact address and a clear
    reason they could benefit from a customer support inbox.
    Show each business's name, website, public contact email, source URL,
    and the evidence for its relevance. Do not guess owner names or email
    addresses. Exclude duplicates and contacts who previously opted out.
    Check whether usable Apify access already exists. If a purchase is needed,
    show me the current cost and terms and wait for my approval. Do not send
    outreach yet.
    ```

    Public research may return fewer than three suitable contacts. Ask for an
    explanation rather than filling missing results with invented details.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete service access if required">
    Review the proposed Apify purchase and set an explicit spending limit
    before authorizing it. If signing is required, follow the console signing
    link returned by the assistant and complete the approval in the app.

    The video shows the user asking for the console signing URL, then returning
    to the conversation after signing. You can use the same handoff:

    ```text theme={null}
    Show me the console signing link for the pending purchase.
    Do not create another purchase.
    ```

    After signing, ask the assistant to check the existing payment and service
    access before continuing. Payment approval alone does not confirm that
    research has completed. See [x402 and paid services](/agent-wallet/swaps-and-x402)
    for the payment and recovery concepts.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review leads and prepare emails">
    Check the returned businesses, source links, and recipient addresses.
    A public contact address is not proof that it belongs to the business owner.
    Approve the contacts you want to use, then ask for personalized emails:

    ```text theme={null}
    Prepare one short outreach email for each approved contact from my selected
    Mermail mailbox. Introduce Mermail as a customer support inbox.
    Use only the product details I provided and the sourced business facts.
    Include a clear subject and a low-pressure invitation to learn more.
    Do not claim we have used their products or spoken before.
    Save the emails as drafts in Mermail and report which ones were saved.
    Do not send them yet.
    ```

    Open the saved emails in Mermail. Check the sender, recipient, subject,
    personalization, links, and signature. Research stays in Apify; email
    preparation and sending stay in Mermail.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Approve sending and verify the result">
    Once the content is ready, explicitly identify the reviewed drafts you want
    sent. For example:

    ```text theme={null}
    Send only the two drafts I just reviewed and identified above, unchanged,
    from the selected mailbox. Leave all other drafts untouched.
    Report the result for each email.
    ```

    Check **Sent** in that mailbox and the returned send results. A saved draft
    is not a sent email, and a successful send does not guarantee delivery or
    a reply. If a send result is uncertain, inspect the mailbox before retrying
    to avoid contacting the same person twice.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Check the outcome

* The sender belongs to the intended workspace and mailbox.
* Every used contact has a source; missing contact details were not guessed.
* The research cost stayed within your approved limit.
* Only the emails you approved were sent; unapproved drafts remain untouched.
* You can distinguish failed, saved, and sent results for each recipient.

## If the workflow stops

| What you see | What to do |
| ------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Wallet or research tools are unavailable | Ask the assistant to inspect its available tools. Check the full OAuth MCP connection and service availability before proceeding. |
| PayBox needs connection or reauthorization | Complete the handoff in Mermail; ask the workspace owner if your role cannot authorize it. |
| Payment is pending | Check the existing payment and finish its signing step. Do not submit a duplicate purchase. |
| Apify returns no usable contact | Refine the criteria or skip that business. Do not infer an email address from a name or domain. |
| Emails exist only as drafts | Review them and explicitly approve the intended send. Research or draft creation does not authorize sending. |
